We are accepting accplications for a position open in Community Relations as Manager of Partnerships and Projects. Applications are accepted ongoing for chat room and message board moderators and email correspondence.

Information Manager, Combat Recovery™

We're accepting applications for management of the Combat Recovery outreach program and informational web site. This is a volunteer position and no compensation, whether monetary or benefits, will be offered. The successful applicant for this managerial position will:
- Be willing to commit to 6-8 hours of volunteer time each week.
- Be familiar with researching and citing sources.
- Have some basic familiarity with combat recovery terminology.
- Commit to ongoing research of post combat related issues benefits, resources, and information.
- Keep the Combat Recovery web site up-to-date with current information.
- Work with the web developer to get updates online in a timely manner (knowledge of HTML coding is not necessary).
- Develop a plan for organizing the web site so it is a useful tool to web visitors.
- Have the ability to be visionary and make a plan for the big picture as information and resources listed on the web site grow.
- Be able to see needs of Marine Corps Combat Veterans and if necessary, plan and implement outreach projects to assist them.
- Have the ability to select what to present on the web site, and how to present the information.
- Seek advise and approval from the director of Outreach Services to develop and plan the Combat Recovery outreach program.
- Work within a budget for any expenses that may be incurred and provide accurate documentation of finances.
- Have excellent organizational skills.
- Have the ability to work independently and with a team.
- Create monthly reports in a timely manner for the director in charge.
- Attend organizational and strategy meetings as necessary with directors and other managers.
- Be responsible and commited to the program.
- Have the ability to write with minimal grammar, spelling or punctuation errors.
- Be familiar with the use of computers and basic programs to compose text and correspondence.
- Be familiar with online computer programs required to communicate with others in a virtual office, including email, online documents, calendars, chat rooms and message boards.
- Be willing to add other duties as necessary to fullfill the responsibilities as manager of the MarineParents.com Combat Recovery Outreach Program and Informational Web Site.

Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities

Message Board Moderators
Message Board Moderators must be able to commit to 7 months and at least 7 hours per week moderating time, 10 is desired. In addition, basic computer and internet knowledge is required. Applicants should know how to use search engines for research, work within windows and be able to copy and paste. Applicants should also be comfortable training and working in an on line environment by means of electronic communication.
- A proven history of participation on the message board. Post count should be relative to length of membership or approximately one post per day with consistency.
- Participation in a variety of forums with a demonstrated history of supporting members
- Positive, supportive and enthusiastic posts
- Strong verbal and communication skills preferred
- Use of web site links is preferred
- Recruit Parents Message Board Moderators-Recruits must be graduated
- OpSec and MarineParents.com security and guideline compliant
Chat Room Moderators and Coordinators
Chat room volunteers should be available 1-2 nights per week during regularly scheduled chat nights and/or afternoons. In addition, basic computer and internet knowledge is required. Applicants should know how to find information on the MarineParents.com, Inc. web site, work within windows and be able to copy and paste.
- Moderators are responsible for opening and/or closing the chat room, moderating conversations, and administrative tasks as needed
- Coordinators are responsible for guiding traffic and assisting moderating of chat conversations
- Both need to offer positive, supportive and enthusiastic conversation
- Both should be OpSec and MarineParents.com security and guideline compliant
Answering Email Questions and Inquiries
Must meet requirements of Message Board Moderators. Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
Volunteers who answer emails will be responsible for communicating with members who contact us for information & support. Applicants should be familiar with information on the web site that can be used to answer questions.
